1. Why is Dékor such a popular diaper pail?
The Dékor pail is perfect for the parent who is looking for an attractive, economical,
and hands-free way to dispose of dirty diapers.
2. What makes Dékor better than other diaper pails?
There are several reasons giving the Dékor an advantage over other pails.
Among
them is the hands-free operation, meaning you never have to touch the pail when
changing a diaper. Not only is it easier, it is more hygienic too. In addition to
being hands-free, the Dékor refill system offers you a long lasting, economical
solution among refill type systems.
3. What is the difference between the Dékor Plus and Classic?
About ten dollars. Seriously though, the Classic pail is a bit smaller and holds
less diapers before needing to be emptied making it the perfect choice for smaller
nurseries, upstairs and downstairs pails, or for the grandparents out there. The
Classic will hold up to 40 newborn diapers.
The Dékor Plus has a bit larger footprint and therefore has a higher capacity
than the
Classic. The Plus is well suited for one pail households, multiples, and in general
more changes between emptying. The
Plus will hold up to 60 newborn diapers.
4. What keeps odor inside the Dékor?
Dékor has a unique, three part approach to odor control, starting the sealed, Magik™
trap door. This door allows the diaper through and then quickly re-seals to keep
odor from escaping. The lid of the Dékor itself also acts as a secondary seal for
double protection against odor. The strong, powder-scented refill is the third line
of defense, and keeps the odor INSIDE the pail.
5. Do I need to assemble my Dékor?
No, Dékor comes fully assembled with one refill already installed and ready
to go.
6. How many diapers will I dispose of?
You can anticipate disposing of 3000–5000 diapers over the 2–3 years
your child will be in them! Of course, these are average numbers and your experience
will differ.

7. What is the difference between hands-free and one-handed operation?
One-handed typically means you may have to open a lid or perform some other action,
or two, in order to actually dispose of the diaper. With Dékor, you never
have to
touch the pail when disposing of a diaper, simply Step on the pedal and Drop the
diaper in. Now that is what we call hands free!
8. What does Step and Drop mean?
Step and Drop describes our hands-free solution to diaper disposal. Step on the
foot pedal, which opens the lid, and drop the diaper in through the trap doors.
Release the pedal, the lid closes and you are done, without ever touching the pail.
9. Can I hold my baby while disposing of the dirty diaper?
Because Dékor is hands free, you can hold your baby in one arm while disposing
of a dirty diaper.
10. Why is the Dékor so easy to use?
Dékor was designed with ease of use in mind. From disposing of the diaper,
to emptying, to changing the refill, using a Dékor is easy and intuitive.
11. Why doesn’t the Dékor pail absorb odor like other pails?
Other plastic pails are made from a plastic known as polypropylene. This plastic
has many positive attributes, but it has one major drawback as a material for diaper
pails, it tends to absorb odor! Knowing this, we decided to make the Dékor
pails out of ABS plastic, a strong and durable plastic that does not absorb odor
or incidentally, turn yellow over time. Using this more expensive material does
add cost to our product, but we think the benefits far outweigh this increase in
price. Incidentally, ABS Plastic is used in protective head gear, medical equipment,
and it is what Legos® are made of!
12. How many diapers will the Dékor actually hold?
The Dékor Plus will hold as many as 60 newborn diapers, and the Dékor
Classic as many as 40, but your results may vary. Go ahead, see how many will fit

13. Can I use Dékor for “Pull-Ups” or similar sized diapers?
Dékor is perfect for any size diaper, including night-time and pull-up type
diapers.
14. Is it difficult to empty the pail when it is full?
Emptying the Dékor is very easy. Start by opening the service door and pulling
out
the full bag. Grab the top of the bag and cut it free using the door mounted cutter.
Tie a knot in the top and dispose. Finish by tying knot in the bottom of the liner
to form a new “bag”, close the service door and you are ready for more diapers.

15. Can the door mounted cutter injure my child?
The door mounted cutter has a sharp blade that is set deeply behind plastic guards
to minimize any access by small hands. Be sure to close the service door immediately
after emptying to prevent any access to the cutter. Parental supervision is the
best defense against injury.
16. Do I have to wait until my Dékor is completely full before emptying?
No. You can empty the Dékor at any time. Emptying more often will actually
help to minimize any odors escaping into your nursery, but will use slightly more
refill.
17. How do I convert the Dékor into a trash can?
When you are finished with diapers, or if you are out of them for a few years ,
you may still use your Dékor. Simply remove the diaper insert and use the
pail in the bathroom, kitchen, garage , or wherever you need an easy to use, contemporary
styled trash can. By the way, Dékor works really well with kitty litter.
About Refills
18. How difficult is it to change the refill on my Dékor?
It isn’t difficult at all to change the refill on your Dékor. Simply open
the top frame and lift out the empty refill cartridge. Slide a new refill over the
cartridge following the directions on the refill label, then reinstall the cartridge
loaded with the new refill. Tear off the label and pull up the refill from the outside
and tie a knot. Push the knot down and close the top frame. Open the service door
and pull the refill through. Tie a knot in the bottom and you are all set.

19. Where can I purchase refills online?

20. What is the difference between the regular refills and the biodegradable refills?
The biodegradable refills contain a special ingredient that will help them to break
down faster over the “regular” refills. Both offer the same strength and odor protection,
and both are lightly powder scented. As defined by the ASTM, "A Biodegradeable Plastic
is defined as a degradable plastic in which the degradation results from the action
of naturally occuring microorganisms such as bacteria, fungi, and algae."
21. Why are Dékor refills so economical?
The Dékor refills are designed with efficiency in mind. Rather than individual
bags, the Dékor refills are actually one long bag, or liner, that you cut
and tie as needed. You can wait until the bag is full, or dispose of that one really
stinky change right away.
22. Which refill size do I need for My Dékor?
The size of refill you need is contingent on your size pail. If you have a Classic
or regular then you will use the Classic or “regular” sized refills. Likewise, if
you own a Plus size pail, you will need the Plus size refills. Refer to the label
on the inside of your service door for more help with determining the appropriate
refill for your pail.
23. Can I use Plus size refills in my Classic Dékor, and vice versa?
We do not recommend using the wrong sized refill in a Dékor pail even though
some configurations may work.
24. I have a previous model of the Dékor. Will the refills still work?
Dékor refills are backwards compatible across same sized models. What that
means is, yes.
25. Are the Dékor refills scented?
All Dékor refills have a light, powder fresh scent to match the smell of
your baby’s clean bottom right after a change.
About Cloth Diapers
26. Can I use Dékor for reusable cloth diapers?
Dékor can be used with cloth diapers, just remember to put them in the wash,
and not the garbage! You didn't hear it from me, but the rumor is that Dékor
will be offering a drawstring, cloth liner for this very purpose. Shhh..
About Cleaning
27. What should I use to clean my Dékor?
We recommend cleaning the Dékor with a non-abrasive household cleaner such
as soap and water. Bleach may be used if needed. Abrasive cleaners or solvents should
never be used with Dékor.
28. How do I remove the diaper insert for easier cleaning?
Push on the diaper insert locking tabs from underneath the frame and simply pop
it out of the top frame.

29. Are some parts replaceable if they break?
Some parts of the pail may be replaced. Please call our Customer Care Department
for more information.
30. What do I do if my Dékor doesn’t work properly?

Care Department and they will help you with any problem you are having.
31. Is my Dékor covered under warranty?
Dékor offers a Limited Lifetime Warranty that fully covers any manufacturing
defects for the life of your Dékor.
32. How can Dékor offer a longer warranty than other pails ?
The quality of construction and the use of ABS plastic give Dékor an advantage
in durability over other pails. Therefore we can afford to offer a longer warranty
than our competition.
